Shelley's Family Daycare has been a trusted presence in the Columbia community for over fifteen years. What began as a passion for nurturing children grew into a cherished family childcare home, rooted in the belief that the earliest years deserve the warmth, patience, and attention that only a true home can provide.
Located on Johnson Road, our program offers a peaceful, residential setting where children thrive at their own pace. Small group sizes mean every child is known deeply — their interests, their quirks, their milestones — and guided with genuine care rather than rushed through a checklist.

Our Philosophy
We believe young children learn best through unstructured play, meaningful conversation, and the freedom to explore a safe, stimulating environment. Our approach honors each child's unique temperament and pace.
Every game, every block stacked, every puddle jumped in is a lesson in disguise. We create opportunities for children to discover, question, and build understanding on their own terms.
Feelings are valid, big and small. We help children name their emotions, build resilience, and develop the social confidence that carries them through every relationship they'll ever form.
Our yard and surrounding trails are extensions of the classroom. Children tend gardens, collect leaves, watch birds, and learn that the natural world is both wonder and responsibility.
What We Offer
Ages 1 – 3
Gentle routines, sensory-rich activities, and plenty of outdoor time support the rapid growth and wonder of the toddler years.
Ages 3 – 5
Storytime, creative arts, early literacy, and cooperative play prepare children not just for school — but for a lifelong love of learning.
Ages 5 – 12
After-school companionship, homework support, and unstructured play give children a safe, welcoming space until their family returns.
Whether you need full-time care or just a few days a week, we offer flexible arrangements that work around your schedule. Morning, afternoon, and half-day options are available.
